Supportive herbal and homeopathic remedies for viral infection

Here is more of the nitty gritty ‘How To’ in the world of my recommendations for herbal and homeopathic remedies.

If you have not already read it please read my medical disclaimer here. This document is intended for educational purposes only.

This list is to support practitioners as well as the general public. If you want to see my supplement (vitamins, nutraceuticals, and minerals) recommendations read my post Immune Support for a Great, Happy Life.

You DO NOT need everything on these lists, and I could add even more, but if you love herbs or have remedies on hand and have used homeopathy before, I want you to know about these being the most useful for when someone is symptomatic and you want extra support.

Biotherapeutic Drainage: This is a system of medicine I have been practicing for many years. If you are not familiar with it, I would focus on using the Gens (drop dose herbals) to support general immunity and emotions. The remedies support just what they are named for.

  • Muco Coccinum - 1 tab, once a week for prevention of influenza (NOT COVID-19 - but no one wants the flu right now, either!)

  • UNDAS: #2, 5, 15, 32, 37, 710

  • Gens:

    • Immu-gen (immune suport)

    • Trauma-gen (strong emotions, shock, fear, trauma)

    • Calm-gen (calming anxiety and fear)

    • Alert-gen (increasing you and your bodies ability to pay attention and heal what is needed)

    • Renew-gen (a great restorative remedy at the end of or after illness)

  • Gemmotherapy: Acer campestre, Platanus orientalis (both known for their anti-viral properties)

Herbs:

These can be taken preventatively or to have on hand if you are symptomatic.

  • Astragalus

  • Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium)

  • GoldenSeal (Hydrastis Canadensis)

Others you may already have that are also useful:

For a more extensive discussion of herbs and remedies to have on hand, read my colleague Dr Eric Blake’s blog at: https://www.holistichealthpc.com/blog/coronavirus-naturopathic-guidelines-covid-2019-part-2-prevention

Essential oils:

Great agents with antimicrobial properties, enhancing breathing, and calming anxiety, fear, anger, and body aches and pains. Use what you know. Trust yourself. I use DoTerra oils but do not profit from the company or your purchasing choices.
